We have created a luxury Glamping experience located in Birch Island Ontario. A gateway to McGregor Bay, Bay of Islands, Manitoulin Island, La Cloche Mountain range and Killarney Provincial Park. The property is situated among the trees on a hillside canopy, where guests can disconnect from the hustle and bustle of the world and relax in their private geodome. Spend your days connecting with nature, while disconnecting from reality. A taste into the unique lifestyles of the locals who call this place home, an experience sure to create memories to last a lifetime.

Glamping is the term "Glamorous Camping" but at Among The Trees its more than just luxurious camping. Our two geodomes come with many of the comforts of home, while still providing that adventurous camping experience. They are the perfect home base to explore nature, get out on the water, explore other surrounding communities, local shops and eats, or book an excursion with local tour guides. . The Domes

Getting here. We are located just minutes off of highway 6 in Birch Island, Ontario. 15 minutes from Manitoulin Island and 25 Minutes to Espanola. The property is on the hillside forest canopy at Stillwater Marina, providing access and dockage to Mcregor Bay. The domes are short walk in the forest on a marked natural trail from drop off/parking area. The road up to domes is steep gravel backcountry road accessible by most vehicles. Please see more information on access shuttles can be arranged from lower parking lot upon request during certain hours.

The Canopy House

The Canopy House is the perfect adventurous getaway for two! Nestled in the forest, this 20ft geo dome offers 350 square feet of living space and also features an outdoor deck. Boasting many of the comforts of home but still providing the camping experience.

The Maple House

$400/night

The Maple House is the perfect adventurous getaway for up to 4 guests! Nestled in the forest, this 26ft geo dome offers 550 square feet of living space and also features a large outdoor deck. Boasting many of the comforts of home but still providing the camping experience.

Things to Note

Although our domes come with many luxurious features it is still camping. The adventure begins when the paved road ends. Please note some of the details below before your stay at Among The Trees Glamping experience.

Access to domes is up a steep gravel backcountry road past the parking lot of Stillwater Marina, there is a turn around spot at top of hillside for drop off. The domes are a short walk from the drop off point. From the drop off point the Canopy house is a 30 second (30m) walk and a 1.5 minute (100m) walk from the mid-level parking area. From drop off point the Maple house is a 1 minute (60m) walk and a 2 minute (160m) walk from the mid level parking area. Vehicles must park on mid level parking after drop off. Shuttles can be arranged for your belongings during certain hours. The walk from mid level parking is steep but an enjoyable quick hike to your private adventure playground. The trail to domes is a nature trail, solar power lights are along the trail and flashlights are in the domes but we suggest arriving in the daylight to familiarize yourself with the property. The Dome structure is similar to that of a tent but more durable, also with an added insulation layer. Inside the dome temperatures may fluctuate. We have outfitted each dome with a portable AC/Heat Unit for added comfort. From November- May the domes will have a pellet stove for a heat source. Also note there is no running water during these cooler months, but jugs of water will be provided for washing and drinking. Also remember to bring clothes to match the season. The domes are in a beautiful hillside maple forest, you will be exposed to nature. It's a good thing, take it in and connect with the trees. The climate may change, different times of year may have bugs, come prepared for the outdoors.
Kids are welcome at Among The Trees, however our domes are not indestructible and guests must take appropriate care to avoid damage and extra fees (minimum of $500 plus 100% of any and all repair costs). The structure may not be suitable for all ages (e.g. the loft and ladder)
Unfortunately we are not pet friendly.
No smoking outside of the designated areas. Each dome has one location for smoking. Please see map for the designated smoking area. If you are caught smoking any substance outside of the designated areas, or leaving any litter, you will be charged a $1000 fee, and responsible for any and all damages associated.

We might be biased, but winter is certaintly a magical season at Among the Trees. Each dome offers the feeling of being in a snow globe! Whether you are looking for a winter adventure of cross country skiing, ice fishing, sledding, or simply cozy up inside one of our domes with a good book, by the pellet stove and watch the snow fall.

Maple Syrup Season

Northern Ontario is sure known for its maple syrup! One of the many beautiful trees in our forest is sugar maple! Stay with us during maple syrup season, and book a tour with Stillwater Fishing and learn how to collect and boil sap, and bring home your personal homemade maple syrup!

Family Day Weekend

With being open year round, Among the Trees offers a great Family Day Long Weekend vacation! Bring your family/friends and enjoy some of our winter activities! Make memories laughing, playing classic boardgames, or enjoying the snow.

Fall Colours

With Among the Trees being located in the deciduous forest, there is no shortage of fall colours to see! One of the best views in McGregor Bay to see the leaves in their brightest colours! Bring your camera, get cozy and sit on your private deck, or inside your dome and soak up all the fall colours. Fall in love with Among the Trees!
